Grass Green is one room. A king bed at one end, two fold-out sofas at the other, the round table in between, and no door separating any of it. Green runs through the rug, the curtains and the cushions, and through the old trees outside you see the Drau, the old town and the Mittagskogel.

The Space

37.78 m², and all of it is one room. The king bed — made up Austrian style, with two separate duvets — stands at one end, the two fold-out sofas at the other, and the round dining table with four chairs sits between them. There is no door between the bed and the sofas. For a family or a group of friends that is fine, for two couples travelling together it is not, and we would rather you knew that before you book than after you arrive.

The living end carries the furniture: two sofas that fold out at night into the other two beds, a swivel chair you can turn to the window or to the others, one large floor lamp and an arched mirror. One round concrete column stands where the 2026 conversion left it; above it the ceiling runs to 2.65 m with spots on tracks, and the parquet underneath is light oak. The curtains are blackout.

The kitchenette has two hobs, a fridge and a sink, with pots, a pan, crockery, glasses and cutlery in the cupboards and a Nespresso capsule machine on the counter. Hot water comes from an electric wall boiler and feeds a glass shower cubicle with a hand shower on a rail; alongside it are a wall-hung WC and a washbasin with a mirror cabinet. Hair dryer, towels and bed linen are all here. Luggage goes into two built-in wardrobes with a hanging rail and hangers — one in the hallway as you come in, one by the bed.

Location

Draupromenade 12 sits directly on the bank of the river Drau. The old town is on the opposite side of the bridge.

• Old town, main square (Hauptplatz) and St. Jakob parish church: 5 minutes on foot across the bridge
• Restaurants, cafés, shops and supermarkets: all in the old town, same 5 minutes
• Villach railway station: about 10 minutes on foot (roughly 1 km)
• A2 motorway access: 5 minutes by car
• Lake Faak 15 minutes, Lake Ossiach 20 minutes, Lake Wörth 25 minutes by car
• Gerlitzen and Nassfeld ski and hiking areas within reach
• Tarvisio (Italy) 35 minutes, Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) 40 minutes by car
• The Drau Cycle Path runs past the building — Villach is the handover between stage 3 (Spittal–Villach) and stage 4 (Villach–Ferlach)
• Villacher Kirchtag at the end of July, one of Austria’s largest folk festivals: walking distance

Perfect For

• A family sharing one room — king bed for the grown-ups, the two sofas for the kids, everyone in earshot all night
• Light sleepers — the quietest position in the building, quiet hours from 22:00 to 08:00, and no nightlife on this bank of the river
• Four friends — two sofas, a swivel chair and four chairs at the table, so all four of you have somewhere to sit at the same time
• Cyclists on the Drau Cycle Path — the path passes the door, and this is the quiet side of the water when you need to sleep off one stage before starting the next

Good To Know

• Everything is in one room. No door separates the bed from the sofas — good for a family or friends, not for two couples.
• Not here: washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, air conditioning, desk, balcony, terrace or garden.
• The shower is a hand shower on a rail, not an overhead rain shower.
• Ground floor: the riverside foot-and-cycle path runs past the window. Opaque blackout curtains are fitted.
• There is a small yoga and movement studio in the building (Rio Lounge), with evening classes Monday to Thursday. It is quiet — yoga, not a gym — and it is run separately from us, so ask them directly if you would like to join a class.
• Long-term residents live in the building too. Quiet hours 22:00–08:00, non-smoking, no parties and no events. Only booked guests stay overnight; daytime visitors are fine, just tell us.
• No guest parking at the building. The Willroider car park is free and 5 minutes away on foot.
• Villach city tourist tax is EUR 2.70 per person per night and is added to your booking total here, so there is nothing to settle in cash when you arrive.
• 10 % accommodation VAT included in the rate.
• Check-in from 15:00, check-out by 10:00. Self check-in via key safe — the code reaches you the day before you arrive.
• Cleaning fee EUR 95 per stay. Minimum stay is usually 2 nights. Pets are not offered.
