About this listing

Welcome to Turquoise

Four people, three zones, one room. At 42.51 m² Turquoise is the largest of the five apartments on the Draupromenade, and the extra metres go into keeping things apart: a dining zone in the middle, a sleeping zone at the quiet back, and a lounge corner at the window with a sofa, a swivel chair and a reading lamp. From that corner you look across the Drau to the roofline of the old town, with the Karawanken mountains behind it.

Highlights

  • Three zones in one apartment — dining, sleeping, lounging — so the evening doesn’t have to happen on the beds
  • Lounge corner at the window: sofa, swivel chair and a reading lamp, all turned towards the water
  • 42.51 m² — the largest of the five apartments in the house
  • King bed at the quiet rear of the room, with a blackout roller blind above it
  • Double sofa bed in the lounge corner, so the fourth person isn’t on a camp bed
  • Round dining table with four chairs, and a large blue-and-yellow painting on the wall
  • Kitchenette with two hobs, fridge, sink, Nespresso capsule machine, pots, pan and full crockery
  • TV with Netflix included and free WiFi

The Space

The king bed sits at the rear, furthest from the door and the glass, with a blackout roller blind above it. It’s made up Austrian style, with two separate duvets rather than one. It’s a zone of the main room rather than a room of its own, but it’s the quietest corner in the place. The double sofa bed in the lounge corner takes the other two, and bed linen and towels are provided.

The lounge corner is where the extra square metres pay off. Sofa, swivel chair, a reading lamp set up for the window — this is the spot for the last hour of the evening, once the path outside has gone quiet. In the middle of the apartment the round table seats four for breakfast, and a large blue-and-yellow painting fills one wall. Oak parquet runs through the main room, spots sit on tracks under 2.65 m ceilings, and a single round concrete column was never boxed in when these former ground-floor commercial units became apartments in 2026.

The kitchenette gives you two hobs, a fridge, a sink, a Nespresso capsule machine, pots, a pan, crockery, glasses and cutlery. Two hobs feed four if you run a pot on one and a pan on the other — everyone eats at the same time, nobody waits for a second round. There’s no oven and no microwave, so that’s the shape of dinner here. In the bathroom, a washbasin sits under a mirror, the WC is wall-hung, and the shower is a glass cubicle with a hand shower on a rail. An electric wall boiler heats the water, and there’s a hair dryer. For clothes there’s a large wardrobe with a rail and hangers plus a full-length mirror, and a coat rack in the hallway takes the jackets on the way in.

Location

You’re directly on the bank of the Drau, with the old town across the bridge. The nightlife district is over there and not here, so the evenings on this bank stay quiet.

  • Old town, main square (Hauptplatz) and St. Jakob parish church: 5 minutes on foot across the bridge
  • Restaurants, cafés, shops and supermarkets: all in the old town across the bridge
  • Villach railway station: about 10 minutes on foot (roughly 1 km)
  • The Drau Cycle Path (Drauradweg) runs past the building — Villach is the handover point between stage 3 (Spittal–Villach) and stage 4 (Villach–Ferlach)
  • A2 motorway access: 5 minutes by car
  • Lake Faak 15 minutes, Lake Ossiach 20 minutes, Lake Wörth 25 minutes by car
  • Gerlitzen and Nassfeld for skiing and hiking
  • Tarvisio (Italy) 35 minutes, Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) 40 minutes by car
  • Villacher Kirchtag at the end of July, one of Austria’s largest folk festivals: walking distance

Perfect For

  • Families with two kids — the kids take the sofa bed in the lounge corner, you take the king bed at the quiet end, and nobody climbs over anybody
  • Four friends travelling together — a round table for four and a separate sofa corner mean two things can happen at once in the same apartment
  • Cyclists on the Drau Cycle Path — the path runs right past the door, and Villach is the handover point between stage 3 and stage 4
  • Longer stays — three zones and 42.51 m² mean a rainy afternoon indoors doesn’t put four people in each other’s way

Good To Know

  • No washing machine, no tumble dryer, no dishwasher, no oven, no microwave and no air conditioning — the same as most places in Villach.
  • No balcony, no terrace, no garden.
  • The shower is a hand shower on a rail in a glass cubicle, not an overhead rain shower.
  • The apartment is on the ground floor and the riverside foot-and-cycle path runs past the window. Opaque blackout curtains are fitted throughout, plus a roller blind at the bed.
  • There is no guest parking at the building. The Willroider car park is free and about 5 minutes away on foot.
  • Check-in from 15:00, check-out by 10:00. You let yourselves in with a key safe, and the code arrives the day before you travel.
  • Villach’s city tourist tax is EUR 2.70 per person per night and is added to your booking total here, so there is nothing to pay in cash on arrival.
  • Cleaning fee EUR 95 per stay. Minimum stay is usually 2 nights. 10 % accommodation VAT is included in the rate.
  • There is a small yoga and movement studio in the building (Rio Lounge), with evening classes Monday to Thursday. It is quiet — yoga, not a gym — and it is run separately from us, so ask them directly if you would like to join a class.
  • Long-term residents live in the building too. Quiet hours are 22:00 to 08:00, the apartment is non-smoking, and parties and events are not allowed.
  • Only booked guests stay overnight. Daytime visitors are no problem, just let us know. We don’t take pets.

Why Book Direct

Booking here on happystay.at gets you the best rate we offer, with no booking fees and no platform surcharge added on top. You’re also writing to the people who actually look after this building, so a question about your arrival time, the key safe or how the apartment is laid out gets answered by someone who has stood in the room.

The Other Apartments in the House

Five apartments share this building on the Draupromenade, and they are genuinely different from one another. If Turquoise is not the right shape for your trip, one of these probably is:

  • Gold — the padded window seat over the river, for 2
  • Drau — the bed at the panorama window, sleeps 4
  • Pink — the reading nook in the window, for 2
  • Grass Green — one room for 4 on the quiet side

You can see all five side by side on our Villach page. We also host apartments in Vienna and Klagenfurt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the bed in a separate bedroom?

No. Turquoise is laid out in zones rather than in separate rooms. The bed has its own corner at the back, furthest from the door and the glass, with a blackout roller blind above it — at 42.51 m² the zones sit far enough apart to feel distinct, but the sleeping area is part of the main room.

How is Turquoise different from the other four apartments in the house?

Two things. It is the largest of the five at 42.51 m², and it is the one laid out in three zones — a dining zone, a sleeping zone and a lounge corner — instead of a single living area. If four of you want somewhere to sit in the evening that isn’t the dining chairs or the bed, this is the apartment in the building that has it.

What’s actually in the lounge corner?

A sofa, a swivel chair and a reading lamp, all facing the window and the water beyond it. The sofa is also the double sofa bed, so it does two jobs. The apartment is on the ground floor, which means the riverside path passes between you and the river, and the curtains are opaque whenever you want them shut.

How do four people sleep here?

A king bed at the rear of the room for two, and a double sofa bed in the lounge corner for two more. Bed linen and towels are provided. The king bed is made up Austrian style, with two separate duvets.

Can we cook for four here?

Within limits, yes. Two hobs, a fridge, a sink, pots, a pan, crockery, glasses and cutlery, plus a Nespresso capsule machine. One pot and one pan running together will feed four at the same time. There’s no oven, no microwave and no dishwasher, so plan for hob cooking and washing up by hand. The round table then seats all four of you.

Can we have people over?

During the day, yes — just let us know. Overnight, only the guests on the booking may stay. Long-term residents live in the building, so quiet hours run from 22:00 to 08:00, and parties and events aren’t allowed.
